Restylane® and Perlane®
Look younger, instantly!

What are Restylane® and Perlane®?
Both products are dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid and injected into the skin to restore volume and fullness. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the connective tissue of the body that cushions and lubricates. (See before and after pictures below.)

What do they treat?
Both Restylane® and Perlane® are used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).

What is the difference between Restylane® and Perlane®?
Both products contain stabilized hyaluronic acid made by the same biotechnical process, and they are not derived from animal proteins, minimizing the risk of allergic reaction. The difference between the two is that Perlane® has larger gel particles than Restylane® and is intended for deeper injection. Your specialist can best determine which one is right for you.

How do Restylane® and Perlane® differ from Botox Cosmetic®?
All three are used to correct wrinkles, but in different ways. Restylane® and Perlane® are cosmetic fillers injected into the skin, adding volume to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. In contrast, Botox Cosmetic® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) relaxes the muscles that cause some wrinkles, such as crow's feet around the eyes and frown lines between your eyebrows.

Do I need to do anything prior to treatment?
Since Restylane® and Perlane® are not animal derived, an allergy test is not required. However you should take a few precautions before being treated. Prior to treatment, avoid using aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site.

Does the treatment hurt?
Although Restylane® and Perlane® are injected into the skin through a simple, safe, quick, and minimally invasive procedure, there may be some discomfort during and after injections. Treatment typically requires use of a local or topical anesthetic to numb the area(s) being injected.

How long will results last?
A patented stabilization technology helps Restylane® and Perlane® deliver long-lasting results. Typically, Restylane lasts for about six months, and in some patients, results from Perlane can be maintained for up to nine months. Individual treatment duration results may vary.

Are there any side effects?
The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injections site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). As with all skin injection procedures there is a small risk of infection.

What do treatments cost?
Cost is determined by the amount of product administered in an individual treatment, and is calculated by number of syringes used. Costs range between $500 and $600 for the first syringe and $400 to $500 for additional syringes.

Who should not use Restylane® and Perlane®?
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or under 18 years of age, you should not use either product. Neither should be used by people with previous bad allergies or bleeding disorders.
