Juvéderm®—
For smooth, natural-looking and long-lasting results
Juvéderm® is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. It is a dermal filler that instantly restores your skin's volume and smooths away facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds) with a natural look and feel. (See before and after pictures below.)
What is Juvéderm® and what does it do?
Juvéderm® injectable gel is a smooth consistency gel dermal filler and is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis (below the outer layer of skin). It is used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, which are the creases running from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth and often resemble parentheses. Juvéderm® temporarily adds volume to facial tissue and restores a smoother appearance to the face. Results can last up to a year.
Why does Juvéderm® come in two formulations?
Juvéderm® injectable gel is available in two formulations that allows us to tailor treatment to your unique needs. Juvéderm® Ultra provides versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm® Ultra Plus is a more robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles.
How does Juvéderm® injectable gel differ from Botox® Cosmetic?
Juvéderm® is a dermal filler that restores your skin's volume for a smooth, natural look and feel. BOTOX® Cosmetic is not a filler. BOTOX® Cosmetic relaxes muscle activity and is used to treat moderate to severe lines caused by the dominant frown muscles between the eyebrows, temporarily diminishing them for a smoother appearance.
Is treatment with Juvéderm® injectable gel painful?
Although Juvéderm® is injected into the skin through a simple, safe, quick, and minimally invasive procedure, there may be some discomfort during and after injections. Treatment typically requires use of a local or topical anesthetic to numb the area(s) being injected.
How long do results last?
Results can last up to a year, but vary from patient to patient. Touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal corrections.
What are the possible side effects of Juvéderm® injectable gel?
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures there is a small risk of infection.
What do treatments cost?
Cost is determined by the amount of product administered in an individual treatment, and is calculated by number of syringes used. Individual syringes cost $400 to $500 depending on how many are needed.
